The global situation in 2026 is too large to tackle, so let's discuss what's happening on our peninsula, in our towns, and in our backyards. The real estate market experienced a few rumbles of its own, with buyers pushing the pause button and sellers facing more days on market than expected. It was a year of changing market conditions. There are currently 84 single-family homes for sale on the entire Palos Verdes Peninsula. 33 single-family homes are in escrow with accepted offers, and 551 single-family homes were sold on the Palos Verdes Peninsula during 2025.  Those numbers reflect PV real estate conditions that still favor sellers, but buyers have more negotiating power than in recent years. In years past, the Palos Verdes real estate market roared loud and clear with big price increases, and multiple offers as buyers gobbled up what little inventory became available. That was 2021 and 2022; 2023 was tamer and better balanced without the big market swings. I expect 2024 to continue the trend toward a more balanced market. The local real estate market continues to be ruled by sellers, but the buyers finally have a voice in negotiations and prices.
