The Super Bowl is next Sunday, and even though I’m not a football fan, the game plays a vital role in our annual real estate business. What’s the connection? The spring real estate market begins the day after The Big Game according to local real estate lore.
We’ve found this to be accurate year after year. Buyers may look for a home online or even venture out to an open house or two during January. Sellers may research sales in their neighborhoods and vet top agents in their area, but the majority of buyers and sellers wait until after the Super Bowl to officially buy or sell. Perhaps it is the warmer weather or the nesting urge that acts as the spring real estate market and forces people out of their post-holiday stupor and January hibernation, but whatever the driving force, it ‘s real and it’s here.
Palos Verdes luxury listings and sales report for January 2016:
Two Palos Verdes luxury residences priced at or above $3,000,000 sold during January. One property was located in Rancho Palos Verdes, the other was a Rolling Hills Estates luxury home.
Eight Palos Verdes luxury homes in the three million and up price range are in escrow with accepted offers.
42 Palos Verdes luxury properties are currently for sale in the $3,000,000 and up price range.
January’s real estate sales are as expected–on the low side. However, with the arrival of the spring market those numbers will undoubtedly increase.
