I am ready to wrap up the year 2020 and relegate it to memories past. However, one of the big pluses of this pandemic is the strength of the local Palos Verdes real estate market. The market earned Five Stars from me for sloughing through the past nine pandemic months with strength and vigor. The showings and sales continued without missing a beat. Prices edged higher as demand increased. Buyers and agents donned masks, booties, and hand sanitizers with high hopes and little fanfare as they followed the new rules of buying a house during a pandemic. It was a year in my real estate career that stands apart from anything else I’ve experienced in my nearly thirty years of selling property in Palos Verdes and the South Bay of Los Angeles.

How’s the luxury market? The typical slowing during the holidays is evident with 51 Palos Verdes luxury homes priced over $3,000,000 for sale. Nine Palos Verdes luxury homes are in escrow with accepted offers, and 87 PV luxury properties have sold thus far in 2020. By comparison, last year at this time, only 57 luxury residential sales were recorded in Palos Verdes per MLS records. The pandemic increase still amazes this seasoned agent. Home is where not only our hearts are, but it’s where our bodies spent most of this year as well!
