The definition of luxury is wide and varied. Certainly, the word takes on new meaning during a pandemic and times of economic uncertainties. Although a price tag is often used to define luxury, some of the best luxuries in life are priceless. I remember when I first moved to the Palos Verdes Peninsula, I was not that impressed with the homes. I left a 1929 character home in Florida and purchase a rather non-descript ranch-style home in Palos Verdes. The architecture was disappointing, but the natural beauty of the area impressed me with its magnificence. The views, the ocean, the open spaces, and the hiking trails were a source of constant pleasure and joy. Those are luxuries without price tags.
However, we know coastal living is expensive. A panoramic view is costly, too. Let’s look back at 2020 momentarily and review a few Palos Verdes real estate statistics.
Most Expensive Palos Verdes single-family home sold in 2020:
100 Vanderlip Drive, Rancho Palos Verdes sold for $10,500,000, and 824 Via Del Monte, Palos Verdes Estates was a close second with a $10,430,000 sale price.

For those of you wondering if the Palos Verdes Peninsula is beyond your price range, there are still many single-family homes in the Eastview area of Rancho Palos Verdes selling under one million dollars. These homes are often small and in need of updating, but the school system, the views, and the coastal location are included in the price.
There were five Palos Verdes single-family sales in 2020 that were not located in the Eastview neighborhood. Three residences were located in the Silver Spur community, one property was in the PVDE neighborhood, and one was in the unincorporated area of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
Luxury need not be measured by size or price. Often the luxury of knowing you’ve selected the best home based on your personal needs and those of your family offers peace of mind, the fulfillment of expectations, and accomplishing a lifetime goal. That’s luxury that provides contentment and joy for the body, mind, and spirit. If you’re on a quest to find the best Palos Verdes home for your family, it would be my pleasure to help you achieve your goal.
